Taking the Stairs

My eye is drawn to the play of light and shadow. During a visit to Ireland last spring we stayed at beautiful Dromoland Castle for a couple of nights. One afternoon as we walked back to our room after a light lunch I spotted this staircase at the end of a hallway and was struck by the contrast of light and shadow tinged in crimson, so much so that I had to capture it. I’m glad I did. This remains one of my favourite interior shots from that trip.
