In the distance, the beating of war drums;
The rubbing of greedy hands together;
The exchange of threats;
The sweat of fear;
The cries of innocents.

And here …

Each day is a gift I give myself
Each moment a chance to see light
Each virtue a strength to rejoice in
Like the stars that illumine the night.

We cry for peace “out there” when so few of us have made the effort to find it “in here.”
We cannot ask the World to give to us what we cannot provide for ourselves.
I write this as I listen to the barbs and threats exchanged between nations
A deluge of ego-filled hatred with no concern but its own definition of justice.
Hearts filled with anger, greed, hatred, corruption, dishonesty are the lords of war.
Hearts filled with love, integrity, honesty, generosity, kindness and forgiveness are the angels of light.
We must ask ourselves in all candour: “Where do I stand on the quest for peace we all say we desire?
And, if I don’t like where I stand, am I prepared to do anything about it?”
