Flower Power

Vibrant

Weekly Photo Challenge: Vibrant

~*~

Every living thing carries a vibration.

The higher the vibration, the more power it has to lift our spirits and provide feelings of happiness.

Flowers have such a power. We give flowers to lift the spirits of another, or to convey our affection. Their vibrant colour and fragrance (for those that have one) evoke feelings of well being and memories past.

When I consider these dahlias I recall precious moments spent in my grandmother’s fragrant garden filled with such flowers. Happy memories. Good vibrations.

Flower power.

Extraordinary Light

Weekly Photo Challenge: (Extra)ordinary

~*~

Extraordinary Light

~*~

We have had the most spectacular autumn. The fall colours have been almost iridescent under the canopy of blue sky and brilliant sunshine that has been, for the most part, our weather experience.

The past couple of days have marked a sharp turn in our meteorological fortunes and some areas of Ontario have been under snowfall warnings. Yesterday a dramatic cloud front passed by our farm which, between the fall colours, filtered sun, dark clouds, distant precipitation and partial double rainbow produced the most extraordinary light.

Is there anything more extraordinary than the moods of Mother Nature?

Solitude at Santa Croce

Cloister

~*~

As travel companions go I’m pretty easy going. As long as I have comfortable lodgings and the food is good I’m game for some adventure.

During our visit to Italy last summer I was still recovering from adrenal fatigue, so adventure for me was pretty much contained to being creative with my photography.

My husband is used to me falling behind while we’re exploring. Something ~ a colour, an object, an idea, a vision, you name it ~ will have caught my imagination and I need to play it out.

One thing I love to create are moments like this ~ a mood of solitude and mystery in a place of great beauty. Fortunately my husband is a willing subject and, as you can imagine, Italy offered a wealth of beautiful locations. This image captured in the atmospheric cloisters of Santa Croce in Firenze.

Searching for Music

Daily Prompt: Searching

~*~

I’ve been searching for the music in answer to this week’s writing challenge: Moved by Music.

Stay tuned to my blog In So Many Words to see how music has moved me. Likely to be posted later today.

Here’s a brief excerpt:

I don’t understand the science behind it. All I know is that the music (as well as books, movies, etc.) we absorb lives in us forever. It’s a powerful emotive force that can build up or, tear down. Like all living things it has its good, bad and ugly. This is why I am so careful about what I tune into. These vibrations colour my life forever.

Weekly Photo Challenge: The Hue of You … Blue

~*~

Cool Blue

~*~

This was the first image that came to mind when I reflected on this challenge.

These organ pipes in the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona reflect a full spectrum of colours from the church’s gorgeous stained glass windows.

Here the major hues are a delicious lapis and turquoise blue.

Divine!

With my birthday in December, the month of turquoise, it seems fitting that the colours that most resonate with me are those depicted here.

And there’s just enough of the warmer shades to provide a sense of balance.

Blue is a spiritual colour. The colour of communication. The colour of the Throat Chakra.

As a writer and communicator this seems entirely appropriate.
