TITANIC … Cobh Harbour, Ireland

Weekly Photo Challenge: Letters

~*~

 Titanic

The memorial at Cobh Harbour, Ireland, the final port of call before Titanic set sail for New York City, is a blink-and-you-miss-it and almost nondescript moment.
Still, the titanic letters underscore a titanic miscalculation on a titanic voyage, and a titanic loss.

Kings Channel … Waterford, Ireland

Waterford

Kings Channel, River Suir, Waterford, Ireland

~*~

Three years ago this spring we spent three lovely weeks visiting breathtaking Southern Ireland.

I long to return but in the meantime must satisfy myself with memories (and the captivating photography of two Irish bloggers I follow.)

We spent two nights at the idyllic and beautiful Waterford Castle which is situated on its own island in the middle of the River Suir.

The Path

Both days I walked along the bank of the river to get my early morning exercise and brought my camera along to capture the experience.

These images are of the King’s Channel running along the south bank of the island.

Abandoned

Weekly Photo Challenge: Abandoned

Hollow. Empty. Derelict. Broken. Unloved. Sad.

Feelings of abandonment reflected in imagery.

With a structure it’s possible for beauty to be found there. To use our imagination to create a place and time that tells us what life might have been before it disappeared.

With a person or animal abandonment produces a far more tragic result.

Sad stuff.

I don’t like to dwell on it.

Black and white

Let’s end with two abandoned kittens I rescued in 2012.

Where there’s life, there’s hope.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting … Moments

This week’s photo challenge invites us to consider the notion of fleeting.

As it turns out I’ve selected six images ~ two equestrian; two sunsets; two at Niagara Falls, representing moments where I stood still and observed the fleeting exchanges around me.

Love those moments …

Enjoy!

Weekly Photo Challenge: [Great] Escapes

This week’s photo challenge highlights Escape.

Herewith two interpretations …

*

Naughty Lambs

A gap in the hedge offers a perfect escape route for these mischievous wooly babies in Kildare, Ireland.
I guess it would be safe to say they’re on the lam[b]. 😉

*

Great Escape

And my favourite escape ~ time spent on the back of a horse enjoying Mother Nature in all her glory.

Weekly Photo Challenge: From Above … Fallen Flowers … Lismore, Ireland

Fallen in pink

This week’s photo challenge asks us to look from above.

I like to look up, but I also look down sometimes too. You never know what wonders you’ll find at your feet.

We were walking through the gardens of Lismore Castle in Ireland in spring and I noticed this bed of pink blossoms. I don’t know what they are. I love flowers but am not an expert.

I simply adored the colour and glory they exuded in their withering state.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Up … Enjoy the View!

Thanks to this week’s photo challenge we get to look up.

What a great theme!

I love to look up and have made a habit of doing so whenever and wherever we travel.

There’s so much to see, don’t you agree?

Remember to look up … 😉

Celebrating a Blogging Milestone … Thank You, Followers All

Three AmigosAn exciting day in the the “Eyes to Heart” webisphere. We’ve topped 300 followers!!!

I thought I’d celebrate this auspicious occasion by re-posting a favourite equine image captured in Ireland two years ago. I call it  “The Three Irish Amigos.”

At the time we were actually stopped along a country road in Co. Kildare so I could photograph a church. Curious about the unusual activity, as horses usually are, these boys in a field behind me ambled over to see what I was up to. How could I resist? These beautiful Irish Hunters certainly deserved a little attention of their own, so we hung out over the fence, they posed nicely and I couldn’t have been happier with the result.

A warm thank you to all my visitors, but especially to those who have opted to follow along on this important journey to finding, and engaging, my voice. You will never know what it means to me to have you in my stable of blogging friends and supporters.

And what a lovely excuse to enjoy these beautiful boys all over again. 😉

Be well and thanks for visiting …

Dorothy 🙂
