Sunday Serenity: Incoming …

Storms come and go. Our resilience dictates how we’ll endure. Do we grow from the experience, or cast ourselves as the victims of circumstance?

It’s a choice.

Like the horse I choose to put my back to the wind and stand my ground until the storm passes. Only then is the way made clear for next steps.

Storms pass, and we can rise in the wake, or sink with the tide.

I choose to rise.

Sunday Serenity: A Walk in Nature

It’s Thanksgiving weekend in these parts and my loyal collie, Reilly, and I are enjoying short walks in nature. The spectacular colour show is particularly heartwarming this year given the times in which we live.

So we lose ourselves to the wonder of it and give thanks for its beauty. After a virtual plague of caterpillars in the spring that decimated the foliage on many of the trees around here it’s reassuring to see how resilient nature is.

Humanity could learn a thing or two from that.

My eyes always brighten at the sight of a beautiful swan. It is grace, beauty and dignity rolled into a feathery white package that says look, but don’t touch.

We could all learn a thing or two about setting healthy and appropriate boundaries from our friend the swan.

Unfolding

I wish the sun was on the horizon today. Unseasonably high rainfall and an extended period of freezing rain are in the forecast and I find this stressful. Still, this too shall pass and this image will hold me until the next beautiful sunrise.
