In November 2008 we had the opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Prague.

I fell in love with it. Every time we walked into the Old Town Square, whether morning, noon, or night, I was enthralled by the ambiance and magnificent architecture.

From the Old Town Hall with its magnificent Astronomical Clock to the Baroque, Renaissance and Gothic architecture surrounding it, walking into the square felt like entering another world.

The beautiful nearby Charles Street Bridge, with all of its impressive statuary, is a picturesque link to the other side of the Vltava River where imposing Prague Castle stands on a hill overlooking the city. Within its walls stands St. Vitus Cathedral, an immense Gothic edifice and home to many precious works of art. It took 600 years to build, finally being completed in 1929.

This image of the interior of St. Vitus Cathedral, with its contrast of light and shadow, is one of my favourites and one of only six images of Prague I managed to rescue when the hard drive on my old lap top crashed two years ago. Needless to say I was very upset at losing my cache of photographic memories.

Having said that, this provides a rather good excuse to go back. Not that I need one. A return trip was already on my bucket list the minute we left the hotel to come home.
