Viva Italia!

~*~

I have so many fond memories of my travels to Italy. This beautiful country has inspired my growth as a human being and my creativity as a photographer. For that I will always be grateful.

Here are just a few images as a loving tribute to this richly cultured country as it negotiates this unprecedented moment in its history.

Enchanting Italy

~*~

I must be an old soul for I love the ancient places.

Take me to Italy or Ireland (see previous post) any day.

Coincidentally, or not, I’m currently reading Roma, Steven Saylor’s epic novel on the history of Rome. Which reminds me it’s time to go back and take a fresh slate of pictures.

Tunnel Vision

~*~

As long as we judge the world from the narrow perspective of our past, particularly negative, experiences we will never be able to engage with the light of new, life-affirming  possibilities.

To move beyond our tunnel vision is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves.

The Waiting Game

The Gondoliers

Weekly Photo Challenge: Gathering

Four gondoliers wait for their next fare on the Grand Canal in Venice.

I’ve been waiting a long time for an opportunity to feature this image. It’s one of my favourites from our 2014 trip to Italy. Every time I see it I think of Gilbert and Sullivan’s light opera “The Gondoliers” ~ possibly because it looks like, at any moment, these fab four might burst into song.
